Many years ago I came across this little verse (by Oliver Herford) on a Christmas card.
I heard a bird sing
In the dark of December
A magical thing
A magical thing
And sweet to remember.
“We are nearer to Spring
Than we were in September,”
I heard a bird sing
In the dark of December.
One can only hope that winter will be as short and sweet as this verse...
Lovely! I'm hopeful winter won't be long too!
ReplyDeleteOnly three more months and Betty comes out of storage! So cold outside today though that I started browsing the southern vacation catalogs, LOL.
ReplyDeleteSeasons Greetings Beth... lovely picture, sweet verse! We've had almost a full month of waking up to -38 to -40 degree weather that this is one winter that I spend looking forward to spring :) Cheers~
ReplyDeleteOh my Heather, that's really cold! It was -22 here this morning which is way too cold for me. However, I did manage to get out for a short walk in our local park. Then I came home and had a piece of mincemeat pie :)
