Vintage Barbie Thermos Lamp

Ta Da! Look what I made for Betty last weekend. A couple of weeks ago I scored this vintage Barbie thermos at the antiques & collectibles sale held at our local thrift store. I only paid $1 for the thermos (probably because it was missing the cup). The lampshade was .50 cents but the rickrack was $2! I already had the lamp kit so it was pretty easy to make. Just to be sure the lamp socket stays put, I glued it to the thermos with E6000 glue! The rickrack was glued onto the shade with fabric glue. Hopefully next weekend I can get a picture of it "all lit up".

  1. Well aren't you the crafty one!!! That barbie thermos lamp is just adorable. I love it. I enjoy making things like that. Just think, there is no one that has a lamp like that in their camper. How fun. I play alot in our camper also. I go in there every day to do something. Its such fun isn't it

  2. Hi Deezie. Glad you like my new little lamp; it was easy to make. I almost bought another thermos, but when I saw Barbie I knew that was the one to get. The weather for the weekend isn't looking too great but I should be able to get a nighttime photo.
    Cheers,

  3. So cute! I'm going to have to keep my eyes open for something like that to turn into a lamp. That Barbie thermos seems like a lucky find. I don't think I've ever seen one before. Love to drop in and read about your creative projects!

    1. I had never seen a Barbie one before I found this one, Lynne. Make's you wonder what little girl took it to school every day...
Thanks for stopping by, and double thanks for your comment :)

    1. Thanks Adrienne! Very easy to make with a lamp kit and some glue. I love to look out from our cottage at night and see a light on in Betty. You will have to make one for Bing :)

    1. Yes, June is a super crazy month. We finish school this Friday so then it's off to the cottage, and of course time to play in my camper. Looking forward to your trailer posts, Nancy.
      Happy trails!
