The Pleasure Chest

So here's my Pleasure Chest camping cooler. My father bought this before we went on a camping vacation to Cape Breton in the summer of 1960. It used to have a little metal tray (for ice), but that has been lost over the years. When I was in university some friends and I took this with us when we went camping. The name "Pleasure Chest" always made us laugh, especially my friend Joy. My dad decided that when he passed away, Joy should get this vintage cooler. So being the dutiful daughter, I fulfilled his wish. But guess what? Last summer Joy decided that the Pleasure Chest belonged with me, and she gave it back. (Thank you, Joy.) I think it's the perfect accessory for Betty, my vintage trailer. Dad would be absolutely delighted to think that old Pleasure Chest is still going strong some 53 years later!

  1. Beth,
What a wonderful and touching story.. I'm so glad you can enjoy the "Pleasure Chest" cooler now with your vintage trailer. What memories you have had with it and I'm sure you'll have new memories. The real treasures sound like your dad and your friend Joy. You are doing such a great job on your blog.

    Happy Trailers,
    Nancy

    1. Yes, I think the "Pleasure Chest" is the perfect accessory for Betty! I really miss my dad since he passed away 9 years ago, but great memories live on. Joy and I met in grade 8 and have been friends since then...or BFF's as the kids say. I have been getting some traffic from your site :)
      Cheers,
      Beth

Your comments are valued. I read every one of them. (In fact I often go back and reread them.) They really do make my day! Thanks for taking the time out of your busy day to write to me.
